The Customer Prizes

Katholieke Vereniging Gehandicapten/Koepel - Antwerp

Accessibility : a lift for the SEINhuis, special centre for disabled people

The KVG-Koepel association is a centre where training sessions and different services are organised for disabled people. These people come to the SEINhuis building, which is on several floors, for information, meetings, conferences or training sessions. In order to make the building more accessible, the association has undertaken transformation works. The funds from the Proximus Foundation will be used to install a lift in this building in order to make the comings and goings of disabled clients, staff and voluntary workers easier. Other transformations will follow to make this centre a prime example of accessibility (toilets, office material, halls).

Dienstencentrum Ter Dreve - Bruges

Everything on the network: computers for the staff and residents of Ter Dreve

The Ter Dreve services centre for mentally disabled children and adults would like to give each group (10 in total) a computer and a network connection. From an educational point of view, the centre would like to give children who can't talk access to didactic programmes, educational games and communication programmes. The installation of this network would make administration easier, in particular the writing and distribution of reports and letters, the administration work of the different groups, and most of all it would improve internal communication thanks to the use of e-mail.

Orthopedagogisch observatie- & behandelingscentrum - Ghent

A dream garden

The ortho-pedagogic centre for observation and treatment welcomes children from the ages of 18 months to 21 years old who suffer from autism, Gilles de la Tourette disease, behavioural problems, traumatisms. These children have to spend their free-time in a clearly structured environment. The parents of these patients have pointed out the dilapidated state of the garden and have spontaneously presented a plan of how they imagine the garden. In their dreams, they see games, a drinking fountain, a bike shed, a garden shed, benches and a sand pit, all surrounded by new plantations. Thanks to the Proximus Foundation, this dream could become a reality.

Vertrouwenscentrum Kindermishandeling Vlaams-Brabant - Leuven

Innovation and simplification of interrogation conditions for children

This is a unique initiative in Flanders, set in an international scientific context that aims to improve the examination of child victims of traumatisms. The team from the Louvain Vertrouwencentrum has years of experience in this area. Thanks to this studio project, the children will only have to tell their story once. Very discreet video cameras set at different angles will record the interview. Thanks to this method, various objectives will be achieved: the child only tells the story once which is less traumatizing for him/her, the team can insist on particular details, other people in charge of research can observe and follow the story from an adjacent room and the conversation is recorded meaning that it can be used again.
