The Customer Prizes
Spullenhulp, Brussels
Renewal of the centre’s kitchen equipment
Les Petits Riens provides accommodation and support for 120 disadvantaged people aged from 20 to 60. The non-profit association provides more than 150 hot meals and 150 "snacks" every day throughout the year. The kitchen equipment was installed more than 20 years ago and needs to be replaced urgently in order to comply with hygiene standards. The budget submitted to the Proximus Foundation covers the cost of purchasing the necessary equipment.
Katrinahome, Antwerpen
Purchase of an adjustable-height bath
Katrinahome is responsible for receiving and supervising 32 seriously mentally handicapped adults. As the patients get older, it sometimes becomes quite difficult for them to get into and out of a normal bathtub. Yet a warm bath, besides its hygienic value, also has a therapeutic and relaxing effect for these persons. The ability to use a high-low bath would offer a solution for this difficulty. Such bathtubs are very expensive, however, and Katrinahome currently does not have the necessary funds to purchase one.
Petites Soeurs des Pauvres, Brussels
To purchase 3 electrically controlled medicalized beds
The non-profit association runs several retirement homes and its objective is to improve the quality of life of the most disadvantaged disabled elderly people. The association’s home in Montignies sur Sambre has 84 residents. The project submitted to the Proximus Foundation is intended to finance the acquisition of furniture specially adapted to the needs of the home’s residents, notably three electrically controlled medicalized beds which would help to relieve the suffering and increase the comfort of the home’s disabled residents.
Blindenzorg Licht en Liefde, Jabbeke/Varsenare
Theatre project with blind and visually-impaired people
Licht en Liefde works to offer blind and visually-impaired persons in Flanders any assistance they might need. This non-profit association also strives to encourage society to move in the direction of greater integration and inclusion. The association is requesting support from the Proximus Foundation for the production of the stage play "The Blind" by Maurice Maeterlinck, with performances to be held all over Flanders. It will focus specifically on blind and visually-impaired individuals with acting ambitions.
