The Proximus Foundation is set to donate, for the sixth year running, €500,000 to disadvantaged children and young people in Belgium.

Organisations that wish to be eligible for financial support can submit their projects as of today.

Brussels, 17 September 2007 – The Proximus Foundation is opening its annual call for projects to organisations, which offer support to young people (0-18) in need of aid due to their handicap or social situation. The goal is to give these young people more opportunities in our society. All interested organisations can submit their project until 9 November and thereby gain a chance of obtaining financial support.

The Proximus Foundation was set up in 2002 to offer support to people who live on the margins of Belgian society due to their handicap, social situation or youth. Because of its strong social involvement, the Proximus Foundation has decided to aim its call for projects again at the organisations, which offer support to children and young people from 0 to 18 in need of aid. This decision has been taken because the Proximus Foundation belives that all children and young people should have equal chances. Since children and young people are more vulnerable, they deserve extra attention.

After a very fruitful collaboration last year, this year’s call for projects will run in co-operation with the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF). The KBF will help the Proximus Foundation with project selection and monitoring. Since 2002, 185 projects have received a total amount of 2.5 million euros. The participation form and regulations are available on the King Baudouin Foundation website (www.kbs-frb.be) and on the Proximus Foundation website (www.proximusfoundation.be).

The Proximus Foundation organises a call for projects each year to invite non-profit associations and organisations that operate in the selected field to submit their dossier. Proximus employees can also submit a dossier (as part of a team or individually) to support a project in co-operation with a non-profit association. Employees whose project is selected can take 13 to 16 extra days off of work to help with the project’s implementation.

Well-known Belgians support the call for projects

A jury of specialists and well-known names will select the projects. The members of the jury include: Dominique Monami, Marlène de Wouters, Claude Delacroix; Chris Degheldere and Benoît Dedecker. The chairman of the Prince Albert Fund, Baudouin Michiels, is the head of the jury.

The independent jury, as well as Proximus employees and the general public, will vote for their favourite project. There are three prizes: the Proximus Employees’ Prize, the Jury’s Prize and the Proximus Public’s Prize.

The Proximus Foundation was established within the context of the Proximus Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. You can find all information on the subject at: http://company.proximus.be
