Brussels, 2 October 2006 – The Proximus Foundation is opening its annual call for projects to organisations that offer support to young people (0-18) in need of aid due to their handicap or social situation. The Proximus Foundation was set up in 2002 to offer support to people who live on the margins in Belgium due to their handicap, social situation or youth. This year the Proximus Foundation has decided to aim its call for projects at organisations that offer support to children and young people (0 to 18) in need of aid in co-operation with the King Baudouin Foundation (KBS).

The KBS will help the Proximus Foundation with project selection and monitoring. Since 2002, 149 projects have already been supported by a total amount of 2 million euros. The participation form and regulations are available on the King Baudouin Foundation website (www.kbs-frb.be) and on the Proximus Foundation website (www.proximusfoundation.be).

The Proximus Foundation organises a call for projects each year where it invites non-profit making associations or organisations that operate in the selected field to submit their dossier. Proximus employees can also submit a dossier (as part of a team or individually) aimed at supporting a project in co-operation with a non-profit making association. Employees whose project is selected can also take 13 to 16 extra days off to work as a volunteer on implementing the project.

Well-known Belgians support the call for projects

A jury of specialists and well-known names will select the projects. The members of the jury include: Dominique Monami, Marlène de Wouters, Ingrid Berghmans and Claude Delacroix. The chairman of the jury is Baudouin Michiels. He is also the chairman of the Prince Albert Fund.

The independent jury as well as Proximus employees and customers can vote for their favourite project. There are three prizes: the Proximus Employees’ Prize, the Jury’s Prize and the Proximus Customers’ Prize.

The Proximus Foundation was established within the context of the Proximus Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. You can find all information on the subject here.
